The Community Cat Program is a research initiative being led by the Australian Pet Welfare Foundation. We aim to achieve better welfare outcomes for cats, wildlife and people. If you live in the Ipswich area, have a cat and would like to apply for free* desexing, please join the waitlist by clicking the below button (you will be redirected to a dedicated page). Cats desexed via the Program will also be microchipped and will receive worming, flea and tick prevention free of charge (when available).
At the moment desexing is only being conducted in specifically targeted suburbs within the Ipswich area due to limited funding. In the future we hope to see the program expand to other areas. If you would like to donate to assist in expanding the program please click the below button.
Evidence collected from similar community cat programs overseas shows that implementation of accessible desexing programs will have a greater and more meaningful impact on reducing urban stray cats than the current animal management practices in operation today which focus on trapping, impoundment and euthanasia. More information about our Community Cat Program can be found here.
